today is class we took guided notes on Egypt. Im really excited to start studying Egypt because I think there culture is really interesting and advanced for there time. Some of the notes we took were: the nile river provided Egypt with a reliable system of transportation and with an annual deposit of fertile soil. in about 3100 B.C., a strong-willed king of upper Egypt named farmer united all of Egypt. Asian nomads known as the Hyksos ruled much of Egypt from 1640 to 1570 B.C I was the first Egyptian to rule successfully as an independent pharaoh. My name is Hatshepsut. king tut was Egypts last great pharaoh
1. delta- Delta is significant because its where the soil is best for farming goods    Narmer- The king who unified lower and upper Egypt.     Theocracy- Pharaohs were thought to be almost splendid  and powerful as the gods of the heavens.     pyramid- The resting place after Kings died of the Old Kingdom.     mummification- Royal people and elite people would get mummified so their bodies didn't decay.     hieroglyphics- Writings were key to the growth of Egypt civilization.     papyrus- Made papyrus to write important things on that could tell us what life was like back then.     3. The invaders were unable to infiltrate due to desert conditions which became the security for the Egyptians. 4. Egyptians view the Pharaoh as "God" 5. They believe in life after death, also they believe their king rule after death.
cuneiform- earliest form of writing feral crescent- Euphrates and tigris river flooded and left silt CURENT DAY- sira, iran, turkey, jordan, israel city state- form of government that is set up to control surrounding areas dynasty- rulers the are family power passed down cultural difusión- when one cultures beliefs an traditions become another cultures irrigation- controlling the water polytheism- bells in multiple gods monarchy- government when kings rule zigarog- place of worship
today in class we went around the room and looked at what hammurabi would have done in the situations that we got on the blue piece of paper and his ideas were so much different than what I thought was a good punishment for the broken laws. For most the punishment was death and I think that was way too far fo most of the crimes. I also don't agree with the eye for an eye law because each person has a different idea of what the did and there reasons for doing it.
today in class we did a paper with a parterre on what we would do if a person committed a specific crime vs what hamarabi did. On of the examples was a construction worker was building you a house and the house ended up callusing and killing you whole family. At first I said the person that built the house should have to build free houses for the rest of his life but that is very stupid because why would anyone want him to build them a house if the last one he built collapsed on a whole entire family and killed them.
200,000 years ago a human species emerged in southwestern Africa 14,000 years go, a world wide human race existed earliest prehistoric age is the Paleolithic age (old Stone Age) Neolithic age (new Stone Age) was marked by advanced tool making and beginnings of agriculture initially humans were part of migratory groups THE AGRICULTURE REVOLUTION neolithic revolution- shift from hunt/gather to home population increased bc food surplus hierarchies appeared invention of the wheel
In class on Friday we went over the rest of our notes for the pages in the book. We talked about how In college its really important to take notes and be good at taking notes because in some cases the teacher will just stand in th front of the class for a few hours and just talk not answer questions or go over t just talk. We also talked about how and why the periods were build. I thought they're but by Egyptian slaves but apparently they were just build by the towns people.
We got our test back today. I was very proud of myself because I got a 99%, but im kinda angry that I dint get one more point so I could get an one hundred percent on our first test. Im very surprised I spelled all of the animals names correct to get the extra credit. We also took notes again on the pages that we took notes on yesterday. I dint take much notes today but I did say that one way they solved a major problem was to provide water they dug irrigation ditches that carried river water to their fields and allowed them to produce a surplus of crops.
Today in class we took notes on Mesopotamia will Kate took her test. Then we got into a debate about the standers of when a poor person commits a crime and a rich person. We got into this because we were taking about the laws that were first written down and you brought up me stealing a pig and then a poor person stealing a pig. I believe that there is 100% a sterio type that comes with criminal and that is why then always fall into more time and everything. But I do not believe that it should be there. Especially when people are born into money because then you will just continue to commit crime because there is not as much punishment.
today in class we took a test on the video we have been watching for 3 days. The test was easy because of the quiz we took and because we got 5 minutes to study before we even took the test. I think I did pretty well but I forgot one animal which was reindeer, but im proud of myself because I rememberd yak. I don’t even know what a yak is. I say someone yaked when the throw up I had no idea it was an animal and that it was one of the 14 that are domesticated and over 100 pounds. I actually really enjoyed the video we watch and I really like jared diamonds main points in the video. I also liked how he answered the question he got “ why do you white men have so much cargo and us New guineans have so little?”. I feel like most people would just make up some answer about how racism is aosultly awful and basically state everything that everyone already knows. Instead of him doing that he acally did reaseach and tryed to find a real answer and had science behind his answer.
